After the tremendous success of One Arts Plaza, Deakins secured the marketing contract for Victory Park, a 75 acre, 3 billion dollar master planned urban development in the heart of urban Dallas. The development includes The W residences, the House and The Terrace.
Deakins is a native of Tyler, Texas and graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1986 with a degree in economics and business administration. He started his career with developer Richard Mullen in commercial leasing and tenant development. In 1992, Scott created Dallas’ first bicycle messenger service. When he sold Uptown Express in 1998, the business had 40 employees delivering an average of 300 packages a day.
In 1997, Deakins helped create The Friends of the Katy Trail, the beginning of a ten year love affair with the hugely successful urban trail. Scott has worked tirelessly on the board of directors and is responsible for some of the major gifts that have turned the old railroad track into one of Dallas’ most dynamic people places. That same year, Scott began working with David Griffin & Company for several years then left in 2001 to concentrate on his family’s oil and gas business in East Texas. Scott returned to David Griffin & Company in late 2005 to work on such high profile developments as One Arts Plaza. Among other philanthropic endeavors, Scott has served as chairman of the board of DIFFA, the Design Industry Foundation Fighting Aids as well as opening the Trinity Center to market the Trinity River project.
“It is breathtaking to see what is happening to make Dallas one of the great cities of the world, with the Arts District, the Calatrava bridges, Victory Park , Woodall Rodgers park and of course, the Katy Trail. With great vision, David Griffin has positioned the company to be the premier real estate firm in the new Dallas.”
