Two of the most prominent names on the North Texas real estate scene have joined forces.
Virginia Cook, Realtors and David Griffin & Company Realtors announced this week that they have merged, with the Griffin organization becoming a division of Virginia Cook. David Griffin & Company will continue to operate under its own name, with David Griffin as president.
“Our firms have complementary strengths,” said Virginia Cook, CEO of the firm. “We’re obsessively focused on the customer. The possibilities that emerge from bringing together the agent talent, marketing resources and strong presence in the industry and our community are endless.”
“Each of our teams is known for expertise in certain neighborhoods and types of homes,” Mr. Griffin said. “My team gains the advantage of Virginia Cook’s top-flight management, large relocation division, and billion-dollar, multi-office coverage of the Metroplex.”
Founded by Ms. Cook in 1999 following a 28-year career as president of Henry S. Miller, Realtors, Virginia Cook, Realtors is today one of the largest independently owned real estate firms in North Texas. The firm operates full-service offices in a multi-county region stretching from the Park Cities to Sherman, Denison and Fort Worth. Its capabilities include global relocation services utilized by hundreds of corporations.
David Griffin & Company Realtors, founded in 1982, has gained a reputation as the premier resource for buying and selling homes in such central Dallas neighborhoods as Uptown, the Park Cities, Lakewood and Kessler Park. The firm is noted for its expertise with architecturally distinctive historic and contemporary homes and its skill in marketing the city’s landmark highrise properties.
“David’s vision and authoritative understanding of Dallas’s close-in neighborhoods, as well as his prominence as a community leader, will be a tremendous advantage to our agents as well as to our home-buying and selling customers,” said Sheila Rice, executive vice president and cofounder of Virginia Cook, Realtors.
For Mr. Griffin, joining forces with Virginia Cook represents something of a homecoming. “I started my career working for Virginia at Henry S. Miller,” he said. “We worked together for five years. There is no one in the business I respect more.
“She has a keen business sense, a razor-sharp intelligence, and a compassionate nature that is in perfect synch with the demands and opportunities that residential real estate presents,” Mr. Griffin said.
Together the combined organization has almost 500 residential sales agents. The headquarters office, on Sherry Lane in Dallas’s Preston Center area, will include storefront galleries for each of the firm’s two brands where home buyers or sellers can browse properties being marketed.
